What's Inside The Indie Stitches Emporium?

When Indie Stitches opened in 2016, it was one of the first Australian online stores to focus on patterns by independent sewing pattern designers. Indie patterns led naturally to the name Indie Stitches.

No one would ever call me a minimalist and when I took over the business in 2024, I pictured a treasure trove for people who love sewing and stitching. A small name change  seemed right, something that suited both our history and our future. The Indie Stitches Emporium was born.

So when you enter The Indie Stitches Emporium now, you'll find The Pattern Counter is still at the heart of the store. Here we continue to stock one of Australia's most comprehensive collections of independent pattern designers with a huge range of modern sewing patterns. I want The Pattern Counter to have breadth and depth. So when I add a new designer to the shelves, I also add as many of the patterns from their range as I can.

We couldn't call ourselves an Emporium without any fabrics, could we? So in the second year after relaunching we've added The Fabric Counter. We know you want to make clothes that look beautiful, feel good, and last for years. That's why we focus on fabrics in natural fibres with high quality production values. We stock a small range of fabrics and order small quantities. This helps us to keep our stock fresh and minimise waste.

Besides our patterns, we are now also bringing you an eclectic selection of beautiful sewing and stitching supplies sourced from around the world. So when you've finished flicking through the patterns and fabrics, wander over to The Haberdashery for all your essentials (plus all those things you never knew you needed!).

In another corner of the store I'm building The Stitchery where you'll find a curated (and growing) collection of modern embroidery and needlework supplies. We've started with some beautiful modern embroidery kits, but check back often because I've got lots of plans for this corner of the store.

I'm a writer and I love to read, so I couldn't resist setting up The Bookshop with some carefully chosen books and manuals for beginners and more experienced sewers.

And before you leave The Indie Stitches Emporium, don't forget to check out The Miscellany. This is where I display the fun extras I find along the way. It's not patterns, not haberdashery, not quite notions--but it is sewing, and it's definitely fun.

Wander around and explore every corner of The Indie Stitches Emporium. Check back often, because I'm unpacking new deliveries all the time.
