Exciting news! The newest counter at The Indie Stitches Emporium is now open! It's our all new Fabric Counter. After all, we couldn't really call ourselves an Emporium if we didn't have any fabric, could we?
Why did we open The Fabric Counter?
If you've been a customer at The Indie Stitches Emporium for a while you'll know that for many years we specialised in sewing patterns, with just a small range of accessories.
When I took on the store last year I had a picture in my head of the kind of store I wanted to create. The same kind of store I loved to visit when I was first learning to sew and stitch. A treasure trove where you could always find something a bit unexpected. So Indie Stitches became The Indie Stitches Emporium, and a new era began.
I started with The Haberdashery with notions and tools to transform your sewing experience. My love of embroidery made it super-exciting to get started with The Stitchery. And it was excellent fun to open The Miscellany with little bits and pieces that aren't patterns, aren't haberdashery but are always sewing, and always fun.
But even as I was busy creating and growing all these new corners and counters, I always knew that there was something missing. And that something was fabrics. So as I go into my second year at The Indie Stitches Emporium, it feels like the time is right to open The Fabric Counter.
What we stock at The Fabric Counter
We know you want to make clothes that look beautiful, feel good, and last for years. That's why we focus on fabrics in natural fibres with high quality production values.
We stock a small range of fabrics and order small quantities. In this way, we hope to offer you a wider selection of products across The Indie Stitches Emporium, but without overwhelm or waste. It also helps us to keep our stock fresh as we can order at more frequent intervals.
How to buy fabric
Most fabrics are sold in 25cm (1/4 metre) lengths and the price listed is for 25cm. So, for example, if you would like to order one metre of fabric, enter four units in the quantity (the cost for your full length will be shown in your shopping cart).
Some fabrics (such as the Merchant & Mills Jacquards) are sold in 50cm (1/2 metre) lengths and the price listed is for 50cm. The fabric is cut in continuous lengths.
How to order samples
We know that it isn't always easy to buy fabrics online. You might want to know how it feels or drapes. Variations between screens on computers and phones may mean a variation in colour. If a precise colour match is important, please get in touch to order a sample. Our contact details are here.
